Relocation
Move or Stay
Should you move for that job or stay where you are? The honest answer depends on what matters most to you right now. Score moving versus staying from 1 (weak) to 10 (strong) on each factor, adjust the importance weights, and see which side your own priorities favor — including the trade-offs you are accepting either way.
Worked example
A realistic scenario, already filled in. Open it, then change one number at a time to see what actually moves the result.
A better job in another city against staying put
The move wins on salary, rent and career; staying wins on family, lifestyle and safety. The result depends entirely on which of those you weight higher, which is the honest answer to this decision.

Frequently asked questions
The tool favours moving. Should I move?
It says that moving best matches the priorities you entered. Before acting on it, change the weights and re-run: if the answer flips easily, the decision is genuinely close and deserves more thought, not more scoring.
What belongs in "personal priorities"?
Anything the other criteria cannot capture: a partner's job, a parent's health, a hobby that only exists in one place, or simply how you feel when you imagine each life.
How do I weigh a better salary against living closer to family?
Only you can, and that is what the weights are for. Set the importance of each honestly, run it once, then set them the other way round and see whether your instinct resists one of the two answers.
Does it account for the cost of moving itself?
Not directly. Moving costs are a one-off, so treat them as a separate practical question rather than a criterion, unless the sum is large enough to change what you can afford afterwards.
How is the weighted result calculated?
Weighted scoring identical to the Decision Matrix, with rent and cost of living reversed so a high score always helps the side you score (low costs score high). The result highlights the biggest advantages and trade-offs of each side rather than a simple “move / don’t move”.
Importance runs from 1 (not important) to 5 (critical). Scores run from 1 (weak) to 10 (strong). A criterion marked “less is better” (such as commute, stress or cost of living) is reversed automatically, so giving it a high score never hurts an option.
About this tool. It helps you organize information and make trade-offs visible. It never makes the decision for you — the result only reflects what you entered, and real decisions usually include factors that cannot be scored. Nothing you enter is stored or sent anywhere.
